Hello there,
I have been using MyPaint for a while now; and I absolutely love the simplicity and versatility it offers; especially when working on digital art. Although; I have been facing some performance issues when working on large canvases, and I am hoping to get some advice on how to optimize MyPaint to handle these better.
I typically work with canvases around 5000x5000 pixels or even larger; as I like to have plenty of space for detail work. Unfortunately; I have noticed that MyPaint starts to lag significantly when I am painting; especially with certain brushes or when using the zoom and pan tools.
The lag makes the painting process less enjoyable; and I find myself waiting for the program to catch up with my strokes; which disrupts the flow of my work.
I have tried adjusting some of the performance settings; like reducing the brush size and disabling certain layers; but the performance improvements seem minimal.
My system is a fairly powerful desktop; so I am wondering if there are any specific tweaks I can make in MyPaint’s settings; or perhaps if there are any known conflicts with hardware or drivers that I should be aware of.
Also, I have gone through this post; https://community.mypaint.app/t/i-want-advice-on-optimizing-mypaint-for-digital-art-projects-devops which definitely helped me out a lot.
Has anyone experienced similar issues with large canvases? If so, how did you optimize MyPaint to improve performance? Any tips on brush settings, layer management, or even system configurations that might help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help and assistance.
