No Device Detected in Wacom Applet on Ubuntu

wacom applet in ubuntu settings says no device detected but the device works (can’t access device settings)

lenovo, ideapad 110, amd a6

MyPaint v1.2

ubuntu 16.04

gnome 4

xsetwacom --list
Wacom Intuos S 2 Pen stylus id: 13 type: STYLUS
Wacom Intuos S 2 Pad pad id: 14 type: PAD

the wacom applet in the settings panel says no device detected so even though it functions I can’t acess the properties through the applet.

You might be using Gnome on Wayland. I’ve never had good experience yet with Wayland. You might try going back to Xorg. Look for the gear icon before you log on to switch (not sure if this works for Ubuntu 16)

run on a terminal:
echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE
to see what you are using
