How to address lag?

I’ve just installed MyPaint 1.2.0+gitexport.f62444e in Ubuntu 16.10. I’m using a Huion H610 Pro tablet with the DIGIMend drivers. The tablet seems to work OK in gimp.

In MyPaint though the lag with brush strokes is rather large. Input from the mouse seems normal.

I added the testing PPA, but there don’t seem to be builds for 16.10.

Any suggestions for how to address this?

If you have many tool or brush panels open, try closing some of them.
